The 15 permanent members of the Commission are appointed by the Federal Council on the basis of their expertise in ethical and philosophical matters. Areas represented in the Commission include law, the humanities, social sciences, economics as well as natural science.
Since the first of January 2024 Professor Dr. Markus Zimmermann acts as President of the Commission.
